The Metalsmith Studio (Renovated Principio Iron Furnace Hay Barn)
At the Harris Metalsmith Studio we exist to produce the finest handcrafted ironwork. Every detail of our projects are hand forged with meticulous detail, and custom designed to perfectly compliment each environment. Many projects feature traditional joinery such as mortise and tenon frames, pass thrus, collars, and rivits.
Owner and metalsmith Matthew Harris apprenticed four years with master blacksmith Al Moolenschot from Amsterdam. This afforded the unique opportunity to learn fine craftsmanship in iron, steel, stainless, bronze, and copper. Currently the studio and gallery are located at the historic Principio Iron Furnace in Perryville, MD. We work with architects, builders and homeowners on the east coast.
In 2008 we were pleased to have Matt’s father, Ron Harris join the team at Harris Metalsmith Studio. He has quickly become an important part of the production of our metalwork.
